My first Class Recommendation is drum roll please.............Rhapsody YEYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!! When it comes to Street Jazz she is the one. I first took Rhapsody's class my junior year of high school in 2001 i believe. I begged my mom to give me money (12 bucks in those days) to take her class at BDC because i knew in order to get my foot through the door i had to learn how to do that type of choreography. I was training in Alvin Ailey and in those days they didn't have any Hip-Hop. She seriously knows her shit and till this day she helps shape so many dancers careers and lives! I love her......Soo take her class if you want to be elite! She teaches at broadway dance center www.bdcnyc.com Mon, Wed, Fri at 7:30pm and thurs 3pm
Hey Danni! You are IT girl - your dancing and your work gives me so much LIFE! I know it's brand new, but I love what you're trying to do here! Any advice for folks who can't get out to nyc or la to get that GOOD street jazz experience? I'm a working dancer & teacher, but it's hard trying to carve out time to get some good training and still make ends meet. Many thanks - hope to see your blog grow by leaps & bounds!
ReplyDeleteThanks honey, i appreciate it. Where exactly do you live?
ReplyDeleteTexas, Dallas specifically. I spend a couple of months out the yr in Hartford, CT and maybe make it into nyc once or twice while I'm there. Haven't got a chance to take rhapsody's class, but i'm def making time when i get back to nyc.
ReplyDeleteDallas??? Well i think Marty Kudelka is from there. He definitely has his own style but not many people can pick it up. He choreographs for Justin Timberlake and has been teaching for a hot minute. Your not in a ghost city Thank God...but its still not NY. I'll ask around to see who is the most elite studio/teacher to learn from and will also ask if Rhapsody will ever be in your city :)
